As London‘s leading black agency, we stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter (BLM), the black community, and all those united in the fight against racism and injustice.
We condemn the murders of George Floyd in Minneapolis and Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta. While it is easy to shine a light on America‘s mistreatment of Black people due to its documentation for centuries, the UK is sadly not innocent.
At a time of great oppression, widespread abuse of power, and constant attacks on our fundamental civil rights, to bring an end, society must accept that structural racism is present in our communities.
We are mindful that while statements of solidarity are impactful, they are not enough to bring about real change. We must be the change that we demand, and for that reason, Eagle London Agency (Eagle) was founded. We are proud that our work contributes to changing individual prejudices and provides equality for all.
To the creative sector, if we are serious about offering opportunities for black people to grow, then we must take steps to dismantle systems of inequality that cloud our industry. If we cannot acknowledge and confront racism within our organisations, we are no better than the Government and the police who deny it in theirs. It is time we started looking at ourselves. We must change our prejudices and not allow it to influence our decisions.
There are enormous opportunities for the creative sector if we change the stereotype and encourage more partnerships and collaborations with black-owned agencies like Eagle and encourage BAME representation at senior levels within our organisations. By listening and incorporating diversity, it gives us better product development, opens our target audiences, and leads to higher revenue.
At Eagle, we partner with brands and organisations who offer products and services that appeal to all but are mindful of their diverse consumer audiences. Our understanding of the different markets, enhanced by our international experience and African roots, allows us to help organisations to create genuinely diverse brand positioning when it comes to video production, Web design, and Web application projects. We are happy to have open and honest conversations on the motivations of black people and how to support our course.
We are all in this together. Together we can end institutional racism against black people.
